Description:
Chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and type 2 diabetes
are the leading contributors to death, disability, and health care costs
in the United States. Our active duty military service, potential
recruits and veterans are not immune to the health problems that affect
the rest of the US population, and the impact is substantial. In this
webinar, we will highlight how lifestyle medicine is being implemented
to address the root cause of chronic disease and improve the health and
lives of our active duty military service members and veterans within
the VA, DoD and armed forces throughout the country.
Learning Objectives:
1. Increase awareness of the VA’s Whole Health Program and lifestyle
medicine efforts being undertaken by the DoD and Armed Forces.
2. Review how certain VA locations have established shared medical
appointment clinics in collaboration with Whole Health and other
specialities.
3. Discuss lifestyle medicine education and certification opportunities at an individual and organizational level.
